The Degrassi Experience IN 1985, PAT MASTROIANNI, a 13-year-old boy with an infectious smile, responded to a flyer distributed throughout local grade schools inviting kids to try out for a new TV show. 'No Experience Necessary'The turnout was overwhelmingAfter auditioning with over 500 kids his own age Pat Mastroianni was chosen to star in Degrassi Jr. High a new series exploring the complex lives of young teenagers - in a gripping, realistic, and often humorous manner.
Pat started his acting career thinking his role on Degrassi would be a summer job - a few months at the most. Six seasons later, however, Pat found himself on the highest rated show in Canada, syndicated in over 60 countries (including Showtime and PBS in the U.S.), and in dozens of languages.In the span of six seasons, the critically acclaimed Degrassi Junior High, and its successor Degrassi High, won several awards including an 'International Emmy for Children's Television' in 1988. That same year, Pat received Canada's highest acting honor: the Gemini for "Best Actor in a Continuing Dramatic Role"."Hosting" role on his variety show MusicWorks In 1991, the Degrassi series came to a close. The two-hour series finale, School's Out, brought the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) its highest ratings to date - 2.7 million households in a country with a population of about 26 million. As of 2005 Pat has been a series regular on "Degrassi: The Next Generation" airing on CTV in Canada and the "N" in the United States with rave reviews.
As of 2007 Pat is currently auditioning for film and television roles and keeps busy with his public appearances and speaking engagements at Universities across North America
